A collection of Shots

Blog Post Number  Fourteen

These are my snaps from Australia day and the weekend… Obviously a bit of editing has gone into them, I have done some HDR work on the shots. I am so happy with how they have turned out, definitely some portfolio shots. The last shot in this post was my first attempt at Storm Photography, and was taken during one of the horrible storms that hit Canberra this month. I hope you are as happy with the end result as I am.

This shot was made from sparklers, and a long exposure...

My Storm Photo :D

Things to look forward to:

Mr H

Blog Post Number Twelve

I recently met a gorgeous little Mr. H who was an absolute pleasure to photograph. What a giggler!! This was Bo Peep Photography’s first enquiry via email. It was a big step forward for me, and an exciting one too… I hope you enjoy looking at this little man, because he was a pleasure to photograph.

Quails and Zac

Blog Post Number Eleven

This was mainly a bit of fun with a group of friends, and the brand new baby quails featured in an earlier post. Where I also got the chance to photograph the lovely Mr. Z, thought you might enjoy a look too.

Hands Exhibition Final

Blog Post Number Ten

This is the final selection of my photos for the Hands Exhibition, and the text from the poster that went on display as well :D I am really happy with how this exhibition and assignment has come together. It is on exhibit upstairs at the Civic Library from the 14/11/2011 until the 28/11/2011 and then at Belconnen Library from 28/11/2011 until the 12/11/2011. I would love if you are a local follower if you popped round to have a look.

Life’s Journey – Depicted through Hands
By Rachel Crampton Smith
As a student studying photography for three years, I have photographed many different things, all of which I believe have had an impact on my photographic journey. One of these things are hands, in 2010 I was set a narrative assignment, where the challenge was to take a photograph that told a story, not only to the photographer or the model, but to the viewer. This was the photograph that I took;

I feel that hands tell a story, sometimes more so than a person’s face. Hands have wrinkles, creases, cuts, scars, lumps and dents. Every different aspect and detail, there for a different reason, and every different detail meaning something different to the viewer. Some people are proud of their hands, have cared and nourished their hands their entire life, whereas others, this model for example, have certain stories and reasons to hide their hands, and do not intentionally put their hands out on show.

This sparked a fire for me, and made me begin observing life in a different light, looking at people’s hands, what they did with their hands, how they held their hands and what they held within their hands.

Earlier this year I was presented with the challenge, to create my own self-directed media assignment. This lead me to an avenue, a possibility to further broaden my interest with hands. Being a keen photographer I had worked in our school studio and in a commercial studio and had learnt about different lighting techniques.  I used these skills to create a range of different photographs. Both within the studio and on location with the aim to have the photos depicting the journey of life through hands. I compiled these images together, and then shortlisted them into my top ten. Although this is the culmination of my assignment I feel my journey has just begun.
These are the images :)

Willowglen 4x4 Challenge

Blog Post Number Eight

On Saturday the 1st I took a day trip into the Willowglen 4x4 challenge, to support and watch our ACTATC club members who were competing. It was a really great day, although a bit wet and miserable, I enjoyed my day at my first 4wd competition… hopefully many more to come.

Here are a few of my images that I captured on the day.

This was a new and exciting challenge, something completely out of my comfort zone, I think I am pretty happy with these images :D woo hoo!

Things to look forward to:
A couple of interesting shots from my week away :D

Thanks for taking the time to read this :D

Photography Assignment - Frozen Flowers

Blog Post Number Seven
For my latest photography assignment the criteria was to create a piece of art… so pretty much any art style photography you want. I chose to do a style of photography where you freeze flowers in water and photograph them these are my results… the last one is the one I submitted… :D the rest have not even been edited :P

I really love these photos, it is a completely different view to how we usually see flowers… :D

Things to look forward to:
A surprise… not even I know yet :D
